Quality and safety are paramount concerns in healthcare settings. Within the scope of IT, everything from efficacy of electronic health records (EHRs) to the proper coding of diagnoses and prescription of medication falls under the remit of quality and safety. One of the key selling points of EHRs is that they improve patient safety, but as healthcare IT becomes more and more integrated in to the medical world, it's crucial to be vigilant about systems' clinical quality measures.
