IHE USA, a nonprofit organization that drives adoption of standards-based interoperability to improve patient care, and ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon, today unveiled a new certification program aimed at assuring the security and interoperability of health information technology.

The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) has received a contract from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) to help expand the NIBIB-funded pilot project that created the RSNA Image Share network. The contract provides two years of support at $5.3 million and two additional option years at $5.5 million.

IHEs road leading up to RSNA 2012, however has been a long and involved one.
