The Health IT Policy Committee is a federal board created as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The committee advises the National Coordinator for Health IT on the creation of a nationwide health IT infrastructure.
The committee comprises 20 experts in both the medical and technical professions. The experts were appointed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services, the acting comptroller general of the United States, the majority and minority leaders of the Senate, and the speaker and minority leader of the House of Representatives.
