This year Professional Development, Career Services will support two distinct career services venues. The first will be the Career Services Center (CSC) concentrating on the educational aspects of a career. This will be an opportunity for members to listen to those senior in their career paths on various topics pertaining to career growth and development. The CSC presentations will provide insights into various processes in a career and will be aimed at identifying opportunities for career growth and development. The presentations will focus on skills needed in the health IT field today as well as insights into the skills employers are looking for when seeking to employ. Nationally recognized career experts will be on hand to answer member’s questions and the sessions will run from Monday March 4th to Wednesday March 6th.
All health IT professionals visiting HIMSS13 are welcome to attend the Career Services Center at AC13. Topics will be of interest to all levels of career growth. Project managers, implementation specialists, and others in hospitals, ambulatory centers, practitioners, and their staff who are responsible for the delivery of healthcare are welcomed to attend as well as anyone in the health IT related fields. Finally, those seeking employment opportunities are welcome as several nationally recognized organizations will be on hand seeking to employ.
The second venue will be the Career Services Institute (CSI) with the overall theme of supporting the social aspects of a career path. The HIMSS Career Services Institute will focus on health IT and informatics positions that are critical to the governance, implementation, maintenance, and administration of systems designed to achieve and sustain the meaningful use of health IT. The CSI will connect employers and those seeking employment under one venue. It will be a platform to connect those interested in health IT careers and will educate our diverse membership on how best to manage the social aspects of a successful career path. We will have a nationally recognized keynote who is also a recognized career coach specializing in soft and transferable skills. More to come on the speaker in upcoming blogs.
The HIMSS Career Services Institute at HIMSS13 will welcome all HIMSS13 participants regardless of current career state or path. So, get ready for some career excitement as we announce the upcoming career services venue at the Annual Conference in New Orleans 2013.
