When it comes to management philosophy, CIO/CMIO George Reynolds, MD, keeps it simple: Hire good people, get out of their way, and run interference when necessary. When it comes to his staff, Reynolds said, they are smart, enjoy a good time and a sense of humor. "Other than that, there isn't a set personality type. It is sometimes a wonder to me that they work as well together as they do, but we try to keep it fun."

If there's a unifying force that binds this group, it's a rewarding commitment to the hospital's mission: To do everything possible to help children live better, healthier lives. The hospital provides care to more than 250,000 children each year. "There is a direct connection between what we are doing in the IT department and what people at the bedside are doing," Reynolds said. "It's embedded in everything we do."
